Washington State to Feature Festivus Display

PC run amok alert - The state government of Washington don't want to offend anyone. At least when it comes to displays that come around the end of the year, maybe during the month of December.

So, in addition to approving a nativity scene and a Christmas tree, they have decided that anyone else who submits a request deserves to be treated with equal respect. This has led to approval of displays by atheists and anti-religious zealots. It has also led to approval of a display, approved by state officials and put on public property, of a Festivus display.

If it doesn't ring a bell right away, don't be concerned. Festivus is completely made up. It's a fictional holiday that was featured on an episode of Seinfeld.

Now Washington State officials have placed it on equal standing with Christmas. Way to go, guys.

Just because your religion 'repurposed' the holiday from the pagans doesn't grant full rights to the entire month. We should all be able to celebrate whatever we want.

ON STATE PROPERTY.

One can only hope that the Flying Spaghetti Monster has His way as well.

I'm not sure why you think I support giving the entire month to Christianity. If you want to celebrate an actual holiday, go ahead. Just understand the vast majority of people in this country celebrate Christmas, and it doesn't offend anyone if we do. Neither does it constitute endorsing an official state religionl.

The point of the post is that the state, in their fear of offending you and others like you, have put an imaginary holiday on the same status as Christmas.
