I Wouldn't Live There On A Bet
A city supervisor in San Francisco has proposed new regulations that basically give all rights to renters and leave landlords and owners hung out to dry.
Some of the more laughable regulations include barring owners who want to move into their own property from evicting families with children, even if the lease is up. The supervisor says this is needed because children are forced to leave the town where they were born. Has this become a huge problem?
Another regulation would bar raising rent to more than one third of the renter’s income. This includes people who are unemployed. One third of nothing is zero. So, I guess landlords are not going to be allowed to charge rent for anyone who doesn’t work, right? Is the supervisor going to propose a regulation that mortgage companies are barred from collecting payments from owners who rent to the unemployed?
I am so happy I don’t live in that city where up is down, wet is dry, and goobers rule. It may be pretty, but you could not get me to live in SF if you gave me a house for free.
