I Guess You'll Never Get A Straight Answer From Barney

Verum Serum and Hot Air have both caught Barney Frank lying through his liberal teeth.

Barney is now trying to convince the world (or maybe himself) that he alone was the voice of reason when the evil Republicans pushed through the subprime mortgages, resulting in people “being pushed” into buying houses they could not afford.

Of course, everyone with any sense or ability to read (and now to watch on video) knows that it was the Democrats under Carter who began this economic timebomb. It was the Democrats under Clinton who expanded it tremendously and hastened the coming of the downfall.

Everyone can watch the video of Barney himself in 2005 promoting the housing for the can’t-afford-it crowd at the two sites, coupled with the video of him this past weekend pretending it was Republicans who thought up the entire idea.

Dems Blame Bush for Economic Woes Started By Dems

Wicked Witch Pelosi wants to have hearings on the economic problems. If she had one ounce of honesty in her body (don’t hold your breath), the first witnesses would be Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd. After that would be officials from the Carter and Clinton administrations, followed by Jamie Gorelick, Franklin Raines, and Rahm Emanuel.

Like I said, don't hold your breath. They will make damn sure to blame all of this on Bush, despite the truth. Don't get me wrong. Bush shares a small portion of blame, for going along with the Dems on this one. But the wheels were in motion long before he ran for president, and the liberal congress would have rammed it through anyway.

The blame game has already begun. Barney Frank says the fault of the current economic crisis lays with the “Bush-era policy to help low-income families become homeowners instead of renters contributed to the sub-prime mortgage crisis.”

Perhaps Barney forgot the policy was started by Carter, enlarged by Clinton, and pushed extremely hard by himself and Chris Dodd. Bush did support it, due in large part to his strong desire to get along with Democrats, but this is a overwhelmingly Democrat policy.

No amount of lying or amnesia will change that.

Inappropriate Relationship

A prominent Republican lawmaker is in hot water after it was revealed he was having sexual relations with an executive at a financial institution while he was serving on a top congressional committee that oversaw such institutions. The lawmaker may have to resign after pressure has been applied by several major networks and newspapers have written scathing exposes revealing the scandal.

The above paragraph is completely true, except for the following minor corrections:

- It was a Democrat, Barney Frank, not a Republican. He served on the House Banking Committee overseeing Fannie Mae, where his lover worked as a top executive.

- He's not in hot water, and he won't be resigning, probably because the news has been totally ignored by almost every MSM outlet, who have not written squat about the scandal.

Double standard? What double standard?

Mandatory Viewing

You have to watch this video. This is absolutely stunning. Someone has gathered all the available information on the financial crisis and wrapped it up in one neat, tiny bundle. Pictures of headlines supported by timelines and other data. All placed in such a simple package that almost anyone can understand it. Kudos on the work.

If you can watch this and still insist that Republicans, and only Republicans, are to blame for the current state of the financial mess, then you are either blinded by party loyalty, stumped by ignorance, or just plain lying. I don't know of any other way to say it.

Watch the video. Then tell me you still believe what Dodd, Frank, Pelosi and Obama have to say about financial markets.

UPDATE - youtube has taken down the video (twice) after complaints (gee, imagine that - Obama supporters using force and intimidation to silence critics). However, the author of the video has posted a new video that shows a lot of the same things.
